Dining Room Tables & Kitchen Tables
Your dining room table needs to be perfectly adapted to your home, your style and your way of life. Whether that means an eco-friendly reclaimed wood dining table, modern glass top table, an extending dining room table or a pedestal round table, a traditional solid wood dining table or a cool parsons style farmhouse table - explore our range of tables to find the one that's perfect for your dining room decor. Mix and match with our wood dining chairs, formal upholstered chairs, modern dining chairs or maybe a dining bench for beautiful eclectic or modern dining room decor.
Choosing the right dining table can cause even the most self-assured designer to agonize over making the right decision. The most crucial decision to make first is deciding on the table size. For someone who loves to entertain, having a large dining room table would seem like a must, but the space that the table is going in will ultimately dictate the size.
If you have a dining room, most people look solely at rectangular dining tables. Most rectangle tables begin around 72”—although you can also find them as small as 60”dining tables—and will go up significantly from there. A 72” table seats six people comfortably. If your space doesn’t allow for a table larger than 72”, but you’re concerned about not having enough seating for guests, you do have a couple of options. Although it’s not ideal as it doesn’t leave much elbow-room for those sitting at your table, you can purchase two extra dining side chairs and use them when needed. You can also use a dining bench rather than chairs, on one side which will give one extra place for a guest.
How to Choose Right Dining Table Size
As tables increase in size, they typically get larger in 12” increments (72”, 84”, 96”, 108”), and usually allow for 2 more chairs at the table—an 84” dining table will seat 6-8 people, a 96” table will seat 8-10 people, 108”+ table will seat 10+ people. If you are the host of the Thanksgiving dinners, you might consider an extending dining table. Extendable Dining Room Tables can be both stylish and offer flexibility.
To measure the space, it’s always recommended to use painters tape to mark the size of the potential table. You should also provide at least 24 inches of space behind each chair when someone is sitting in it. This is the minimum space needed for people to pass by when serving or leaving the dinner table. Once that’s done, you should also take into consideration other pieces of furniture you may want to have in the dining room—such as a credenza, a buffet sideboard, a curio cabinet, a bar cart.
Once you determine the size, the next question you will need to ask yourself is what style of dining or kitchen table works best in your dream dining room decor. Whatever your style might be, here at Zin Home, we offer from Traditional Dining Tables to Beach Style Dining Tables, Industrial Loft Style dining tables to Modern Dining Tables and Rustic Farmhouse Dining Room Tables to Parson style tables . For many people, the look of modern reclaimed wood dining tables provides the right kind of unique style the fits all sorts of spaces. For others, a trestle dining table with it’s classic design is the right choice.
