Bar Stools
Before selecting a Bar Stool, you need to determine if what you're really looking for is a Counter stool. The main difference between each is simple: the height. Bar stools, as the name implies, are meant to go with a bar or bar table. The seat height of a barstool will vary, but it is usually 28-31", whereas a counter-height stool will usually be between 24"-26". You may want to measure the height of your counter to determine the height that is best for you.
Counter Stool and Barstool
Once you determine the type of stool that you need, the next thing to consider is whether you want a stool with or without a back. Aesthetically speaking, the look can vary. You may not want your stools to be blocking the view of your counter or counter-table, and therefore prefer one without a back. But you should also consider how the stools will be used—will you be sitting at the counter to eat a meal? To entertain? A place for your kids to do their homework? Depending on the level of comfort and support you'd like, you will want to think about how comfortable you, your family, or your guests might be when sitting on the stool.
Although the overall look of the barstool is probably the most important factor when choosing a kitchen counter stool, not all stools come in both heights. You should make sure that the ones you are selecting are in fact the right height for you. When it comes to the look, you will find bar or counter stools in all styles and materials. We carry industrial metal stools, to upholstered stools, to ones made from reclaimed wood. Depending on your personal style, there is an option for everyone.
